Welcome to the first Nesting Nomad giveaway! One lucky entrant will win the “Cowgirl’s Cabin” skeleton key necklace pictured here. The key measures about 60mm – it’s a “new” key, but will work on many antique locks! The howlite turquoise teardrop has been hand wrapped by me, in an oxidized brass wire. The chain is 22", and closes with an antique brass lobster clasp.
The giveaway starts now, and ends on June 15, 2010 at midnight. The winner will be chosen by Random.org. This is open to everyone, worldwide.
To enter:
1. MANDATORY ENTRY: Visit the Nesting Nomad shop at http://www.nestingnomad.com/, and leave a comment here about your favorite Nomad piece. Make sure you leave a way for me to contact you if you win! (Either link to your blog, or leave an email address.)
EXTRA ENTRIES (please leave each of these in a separate comment, as each comment is an entry):
2. Become a Facebook fan of the Nesting Nomad at www.facebook.com/NestingNomad. Leave a comment here letting me know you’ve done so. (If you're already a fan, just leave a comment reminding me!)

Peacock Patina and Wholesale News
Time for another brief Nomad update...... It's been a busy couple of weeks! I've created a bunch of new pieces, including the rustic Peacock Patina Swirl earrings at left. (Hand forged from a silver plated wire, which turns all kinds of fun colors of the rainbow when a patina is added.) I'm pleased to say that the patina is all natural, no chemicals required.
In other news: a fun box of Nesting Nomad creations is on its way across the big pond, to Adelaide, Australia! The Penny Lane House of Hair will be carrying some of my pieces - it looks like a lovely little boutique salon, where they offer champagne with your hair styling. Here's hoping Australia likes the Nomad designs. (Maybe I'll have to take a "business trip" soon? :-)

Spirals on the Way!
The spirals are coming, the spirals are coming! I'm indulging my latest obsession for silver spirals, and have been creating prototypes left and right. I've got some sterling wire on order, so the good stuff will soon be available in my Etsy shop....
Where did this obsession begin? Why, in the hills of Northern Thailand, of course! I encountered a lot of Karen Hill Tribe silver jewelry, and purchased some nifty pieces there. Then I discovered Stefan, an interesting German fellow living out in the country with his lovely Thai wife, making very interesting silver jewelry. I'm still working out exactly what technique he used for those pieces (it involved fire and such), but for now I'm happy to create these simple hammered spirals.

The Big Blog Kickoff!
Today’s the day – the official Nesting Nomad blog kickoff! I’ve been dragging my feet getting the blog up and running – there always seem to be so many other tasks that need my attention. But this lazy, rainy Sunday afternoon seems perfect for blogging.
Here’s a quick catch-up list of what’s been going on in the land of Nesting Nomad Jewelry:
Well, I hear a cup of ginger tea calling my name, so that’s it for now!
Peace,
The Nomad
Here’s a quick catch-up list of what’s been going on in the land of Nesting Nomad Jewelry:
- I’ve gotten the Etsy shop up and running, with a nice solid start. (Click here to visit my shop.)
- Nesting Nomad designs are now being featured at the Pura Vida Gallery in Asheville, NC.
- Another amazing Asheville shop may begin carrying my designs soon (fingers crossed, and announcement to follow…..).
- The Facebook Fan Page has acquired 60 new fans (or I guess they’re just “people who like” now) in the last week. Welcome new Nomad peeps!
- I’m working on an exciting new line of Nomad adornments (top secret for now, but stay tuned!).
- I’ll be having a giveaway soon – to be posted here on the blog (announcement on Facebook).
- Jewelry making.
- A lovely visit “home” to Key West - a heartwarming reunion with my KW family.
- More jewelry making.
- Some half-hearted house hunting with Mr. Nomad. (Renting just seems SO much simpler.)
- A bit more jewelry making.
Well, I hear a cup of ginger tea calling my name, so that’s it for now!
Peace,
The Nomad
